The United Kingdom is quite a popular holiday destination, if only for family members of people living there on work visas. Most of the action in conventional tour packages often revolves around London and Edinburgh, with the rugged terrains of Wales and Northern Ireland often missing out! But in fact, the UK as a whole is a great destination for those seeking to soak in a little bit of history while combining it with a heavy dose of glamour. So here’s a selection of some eclectic and exciting UK tour packages that do justice to these islands.

A fun, ten day tour offered by Yatra, this package will show you the ropes on all that is to be seen in the UK. The tour starts in London, where you meet your tour director and traveling companions, and off you go to visit the house of the most famous English writer in history – Shakespeare! Back in England, enjoy a drive through Wordsworth’s Lake District, and then on to Liverpool, home of the Beatles. But don’t get too cozy, because Wales beckons! UK Tour Packages – London

This is a customizable itinerary offered by SOTC, which promises to give you a full immersion of what London’s like. Sure you can make London a part of a larger European itinerary, but as they say, London could very easily be a country unto itself. Even six days is barely enough time to get under its skin, but this tour package just about manages that feat.

The beauty about SOTC tours is that everything is planned for you but you still have the flexibility to decide what you want to do at what time. The first day that you land in London you have at your leisure to explore your surroundings. On Day 2 you can wield your 48 hour bus pass to hop on and hop off the Open Bus Sightseeing tour, as you take some time off the streets to enjoy the view from the river Thames on a cruise. In the evening be prepared for a glamorous time at the Madame Tussaud’s wax museum, and click pictures with every celebrity you had ever dreamed of meeting with!

A trip and a ride on the London Eye is an unforgettable experience and one to be savoured to the fullest. Devote the afternoon of the third day to this ride, but make sure you do it around evening, just as the sun is setting so that you can catch the truly panoramic view of its reflection on the Thames river.

If staying put in London is making you feel like you’re not getting your full bang for buck then you might want to utilize day 4 for a day tour to some of England’s most popular attractions – Oxford, Stratford and Warwick Castle. Oxford is much more than the university which made it famous, and in Stratford upon Avon you can visit the birthplace of none other than William Shakespeare.

Day 5 is another exciting opportunity to revel in English history, albeit its sporting history. Take a day tour of the Lord cricket ground where some of the most riveting and memorable cricket matches of all time have taken place. Alternatively, if you’re a bit of a tennis fan, you could take a short drive to Wimbledon village to visit the Mecca of the tennis world.

The next two days are at your leisure to do with as you please. May we recommend a shopping spree at London’s iconic store, Harrod’s? Day 7 you have a comfortable transfer arranged  to the airport to bring this dream vacaion to an end! Please note that the price starts at Rs.46,500 approx. for this package, but it’s this attractive only because it does not include flights, visas or insurance.

London & Scotland

UK Tour Packages - Edinburgh

UK Tour Packages – Edinburgh

This tour is offered by Make My Trip, and we chose it from all the other UK Tour Packages out there mostly because it affords you incredible flexibility in how you want to spend your time in these two places. So when you’re in Scotland, and you just decided to ditch the pre-planned itinerary to go see the castle where Harry Potter was filmed, then you should totally go ahead and do it! Of course, the inclusions in this package are titillating enough to keep you hooked, so don’t worry.

Out of the six days and seven nights of your vacation, you will spend the first two days in London. The London Eye ride with a glass of champagne is an experience not to be missed, and this is the highlight of your second day. The third day you have the requisite Open Bus sightseeing tour, and for the evening we recommend a trip to Madame Tussaud’s.

The next four days you stay at a delicious Bed-and-Breakfast in Edinburgh. First you have the obligatory hop on hop off bus tour, to get an overview for the place. Then things start to get a little more interesting. A scheduled visit to the Edinburgh Castle, arguably the most famous castle in all of Britain is a great treat. But the next item on your itinerary is an even greater royal delight – a tour of the Royal Yacht Britannia. It is the official boat that took the Royal Family on its visits to Scotland, but has now been moored at port. You can experience for yourself the five star treatment that such a luxury boat affords, and you know it’s a good deal when BBC has described it as “Scotland’s leading visitor-friendly attraction”.

The last day of your tour, day 7, is best kept light. Depending on your flight timings back to India, you might want to visit a local market for its vibrant Scottish flavour, and a last glimpse of its culture before the long ride back home.

This tour is on the pricey side, and starts at Rs 1,49,000 approx. but includes everything you want a package tour to include which is flights, visas, airport transfers, hotels and sightseeing. All you have to do is show up! More details are to be found at the Make My Trip website.
